An abandoned car forced police to close a road near Witham this morning (February 1).Western Road in Silver End was closed during the rush-hour for 'safety reasons' while the car, which was in the middle of the road, was removed. The road was re-opened by 7.50am.

An elderly woman was taken to hospital after crashing into the barbers in Boreham this morning (Tuesday, January 19).
Ambulances and police flocked to the scene on Main Road at the junction with Church Road.
Police have cordoned off the building, which has a visible crack in the wall, above where the car appears to have hit.
The East of England Ambulance Service sent three ambulances and their Hazardous Area Response Team to the incident at 10.30am.
